Remove Lines (mixed with non-merge information)
I have tried uploading the relevant files, but the Word file that I wish to use as the destination for Mail Merge is too big (1.17MB).
Therefore, I will describe the situation the best I can: On my destination Word document, which is pulling into its merge fields information from an Excel file, there are lines that look like this: <<item>> of a <<appearance>> weighing approximately <<grams1>> grams. There are ten rows like this, but some are empty in the Excel source file. The result is that when fields in the Excel file are left blank, I get something like this after merging: Time Stone of a perfect appearance weighing approximately 35 grams. <<item2>> of a <<appearance2>> weighing approximately <<grams2>> grams. <<item3>> of a <<appearance3>> weighing approximately <<grams3>> grams. . . . . <<item10>> of a <<appearance10>> weighing approximately <<grams10>> grams. I want it to delete the extra lines that pull from empty Excel rows, but because there is text on the lines that does pull from a source cell on Excel, I cannot figure out a way to do it. Can anyone offer any suggestions? |
