Unhappy Pull information from 2 different rows in mail merge

I am trying to create a mail merge that will allow me to merge from multiple rows. For example:

«merge from row 1 Joe Bob» would like to buy from «merge from row 2 Kelly» land in the amount of $100. «merge from row 1 Joe Bob» agrees to pay «merge from row 2 Kelly» by money ordered mailed to «merge from row 2 Kelly's addresss» and so on.

Every thread I've read only creates multiple documents with information from one row. Thanks.

Except where the grouping of data from multiple rows according to a common criterion is concerned, that is how mailmerges are designed to work.

Default Mail Merge

Is it possible that I'm not understanding the grouping process? I need information from the first row to populate and information from the second row to populate in the same document. I've attached what I hope is clear example.

File Type: docx Test Master Merge 2.docx (12.9 KB, 6 views)
File Type: xlsx Test Master 2.xlsx (24.1 KB, 6 views)

Your document doesn't employ grouping. For information about that, see, for example: https://www.msofficeforums.com/mail-...-tutorial.html

I doubt it. You need to have all fields relating to the same record on one line.

So there is not a way to pull data from multiple rows in mailmerge?

You could use a NextRecord field, but I doubt that will give you the results you want, as all mergefields after the NextRecord field will point to the Next Record. There is no PreviousRecord field that might allow you to return to the original record.

if you're willing, the following macro will reformat your worksheet so that it can work with a standard mailmerge:
Code:
Sub ReformatData()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim r As Long
With ActiveSheet
  .Columns("A:H").Copy
  .Paste Destination:=.Range("I1")
  .Range("I2:P2").Delete Shift:=xlUp
  For r = .UsedRange.Cells.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell).Row To 3 Step -2
    .Rows(r).EntireRow.Delete
  Next
End With
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
After the macro has been run, you'll see that every second row has been moved to columns I:P.

So that the mailmerge can access the data correctly, all you'll need to do is to rename the column headers so they correctly differentiate buyers from sellers.
