mailmerge not using recipient list
i'm a first time user of mailmerge. I'm running ms office 365 on windows 10. I want to email a word document to multiple users. I do not want to use Outlook's group mailing feature. I do not need the merging feature, I just want to send the document without additions. My data source for email addresses is a named range in an Excel sreadsheet. I have successfully created and can edit a recipient list in Word. I have followed all the step by step wizard provided from the ribbon. I have tried it using the appropriate ribbon commands. I've even tried recording a macro. Either way when I get to the last step I get a message box reqesting a recipent and other data. The inputbox in the message window shows the first email of my recipient list and is anyway "greyed out". If i resort to the Finish and Merge ribbon command I get an error msg telling me that an email can't be sent without an addessee. msgbox.png error msg.png |

Word mailmerge
Sorry to offend. It was not planned. Not entirely sure I understand the url requirement but will not cross post again
Sadly none of this solves my issue. |

The email address for each record must be included in the source data for that record - not in the mailmerge main document. A mailmerge main document cannot be its own data source.

word mailmerge
My data source is a spreadsheet named range. i have created a link from my word document using usng Select Recipients\Use an existing list... I have edited the list by removing all addresses except my own (I don't want 120 people getting junk mail until I get this working properly). I've tested this scenario in Outlook to be sure it copes with emailing oneself. Despite that the Finish and Merge command produces the outcome I described in my initial post. The source email is stored as text. I've tried converting the source data to Hyperlik but that does not help.

Problem solved. The Excel range I supplied to Word did not include a header. Apparently if the first value in the range is a valid email address Word Mailmerge gives the msg and subsequent error shown in my original post.
