Unlink Source Document but Keep Merged Info?
Hello, I need to forward some merged letters to a coworker without the source document. Is there a way to keep the merged information in the letter while also disconnecting from the source document? I've been copying and pasting to remove the fields so my coworker doesn't get an error message when he tries to open them, but it's pretty time consuming when I have a bunch of letters that need to go out. I was just wondering if there's an easier way for me to go about it, or if C&P is the thing to do. Thanks in advance for the help! |

Merged documents are not connected to the data source. The fields are substituted for the data they represent.
If you want to send individual letters - see E-Mail Merge Add-in If you want to send the merge document only then change the merge document type to normal Word Document. It will just have the fields unlinked from the data. If the coworker needs to merge that document, send him the data source and let him change the document merge type to Letters and run the merge.

Or, change the document from a merge letter to a normal Word document and unlink the mergefields.
