Merely changing 'ACCOUNT_NUMBERĀ' to 'C2G__BANKACCOUNT_ACCOUNTNUMBER' isn't doing anything meaningful.

Another way of achieving your goal might be to simply expand the mergefield's character spacing by, say, 3pt or whatever other value you need. The second field in the attachment demonstrates that.
