Default Splitting merged Word document into individual .pdf documents (naming from a field in the file)

Hi

I'm trying to figure out how to split a large Word document into individual .pdf files, with each one named using a field from the merge document (in this case, employee ID number). I've looked at the sticky regarding merging and have tried out some of the various macros on offer but to no avail. Initially I was getting an error message saying that the macro would only run on a Letter format (whatever that may be, I thought it was Word). Now I just get a round blue circle of death and nothing else happens.

I'm a complete novice at and don't really have a clue what I'm doing so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks.

The Split Merged Output to Separate Documents topic in my Mailmerge Tips and Tricks 'Sticky' thread at the top of this forum shows how to do that: https://www.msofficeforums.com/mail-...ps-tricks.html. What you need to do, though is precisely specify the location of the content you want to use for the names (e.g. which paragraph and, perhaps, what portion of that paragraph) - which all depends on your merged output's layout.

Rather than splitting the document post-merge, it's probably better to do it during the merge. See Send Mailmerge Output to Individual Files in the Mailmerge Tips and Tricks 'Sticky' thread.
