Default Using IncludePicture and MailMerge to insert picture that is taken from a a picture lookup in Excel

Hi,

I apologize in advance as I have no idea what I'm doing. I have a spreadsheet that essentially has a data validation to choose a code from in the first column and then the next few columns all return pictures by using named formulas and linked pictures. All of this is working exactly as I want it to so far.

I then have a word document and I'm trying to create a mail merge that will return these pictures. I've read about using INCLUDEPICTURE, but does this only work if I then specify a location for the picture, rather than just hope it appears from excel?

None of my documents are complete, they are all just tests to see if what I want to achieve can actually be done, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, but they seem to all need a file location specified (unless I'm understanding wrong). I have the actual pictures in the excel document. I'm thinking that I should probably just stop abusing excel and try it in access?

Well, no, you can't use mailmerge to import pictures directly from your Excel worksheet; they'd have to be stored on disk somewhere for a mailmerge to access them. You couldn't do it from Access, either.

But I'm assuming I wouldn't need a mailmerge with access, I'd just run a report and print the result directly.
Thanks for clarifying though, saves me ages of faffing about with something that will never work.
