Export .csv file to Word for Mail Merge?
I’m using an old DOS database software called Q&A 4.0 that Symantic had abandoned in the late 90’s. Yes, I know it obvious that I should just switch to a new database, but I’d rather not go into why I want to stay with this progam.
It works fine for my small business as I just input text into fields after phone calls and when a job is booked, but since USB printers came out, I’ve had to “trick” the computer to print to USB using the LPT1 port that’s in the program. I print an average of 25 invoices each month. So far, this has always worked fine in Windows XP, but Windows 10 doesn’t allow me to run the program, and Windows 7 just barely allows the printing trick to work, and its working less and less in Windows 7. I have to keep rebooting the computer to test if I can print. I am able to export data for this DOS program as a .csv file as I do this to make labels for the envelopes using Avery Label Pro, so I thought of an idea, but had a question about it. My question is this. Can I export the name, address and the other fields showing time/date of service and the amount of money I’m charging for the job, and then merge the data into Word documents to produce 25 separate invoices? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jerry |

Provided Word can query the database using one of the available connection methods, you shouldn't have to export anything from it to CSV.

Sorry about the cross post. I don't even know how I did that, and I'm now going to find the duplicate one and delete it.
