Default Merge Footer Header Sectinos all different

Mail merged a excel database into word, produces 244 pages each with a different header and footer section.
When adding page number each page is treated as a separate document, so I get page 1 of 244 on each page.
Currently, the document looks like this:
page 1 has Header Section 1, Footer Section 1
page 2 has Header Section 2, Footer Section 2
page 3 has Header Section 3, Footer Section 3

I assume I want it to look like this:
page 1 has Header Section 1, Footer Section 1
page 2 has Header Section 1, Footer Section 1
page 3 has Header Section 1, Footer Section 1

any ideas as I dont want to write 244 page numbers !

You could merge to separate documents using http://www.gmayor.com/individual_merge_letters.htm. which would sort out the problem.
Or
you could use instead Page of SectionPages which will number the sections separately.

Or
You could replace the section breaks with page breaks which will allow it to number from 1 to 244

I guess it depends what the final result is to be.

thanks for the reply, so the fault is with the original word merge document I assume?

At work I cannot visit your page as it is blocked as unsafe, I will have to look at that at home.

I can only find to replace section breaks individually, so I would have to go through each page, all 244 of them to correct this, not an automatic feature I assume?

thanks
David

Unsafe? Does your blocking software indicate what is 'unsafe' about it?

To replace the section breaks
CTRL+H
Replace ^b
with ^m
Replace all.

You could use the Send Mailmerge Output to Individual Files macro in the Mailmerge Tips and Tricks 'Sticky' thread at the top of this forum:
