See attached demonstration field code. You should be able to simply copy & paste it into your own document.

It worked Thank you!

One final tangential question. I have one other link in the document where the text is not variable and should be the same in every mail merge, but the link changes. I input a hyperlink the regular way, and then replaced everything after the hyperlink with inserting a merge field, and it works while I remain in the document.

However, everytime I reopen the document after closing it, the merge field is no longer a part of the hyperlink, and it only links to the first link throughout all the documents. Any idea why it is not retaining the merge field upon saving, closing, and reopening?

Also, when I closes, the links change so instead of http://www..... they are some how connected with my computer so when I hover over them they say "file:///c:\username\documents\http:.....", and some of them don't even work. When I alt + f9, there are "%20"'s within the links.

Several of the links are to online pdfs (.pdf). Perhaps this is the issue. If so, I would love to know if there is a workaround.

Thanks again!

Cheers!

That problem may be due to the way you've structured the hyperlink. Without seeing the actual field code, I can't really say, but having "file:///c:\username\documents\http:....." is a fair indication of a problem - one doesn't expect to see both 'file' and 'http' in a hyperlink. You may be able to work around the problem by not updating fields in the document before merging (e.g. don't do a preview).

Will this work if I need to share the document with several other people, who won't have this add in on their version of word. I can download it, but I don't think having 10+ people also download it to see the hyperlinks is a great solution for me.
I think you have missed the point of the add-in, which is to insert the hyperlink field format in the merge document. It is not required by others who need to see the document.
