![]() Hi everyone, I've started to use mail merge, so a new opportunity to meet people.. I'm trying to see how I could perform the following task: I've got an excel file with (unsorted list) names of students who have achieved Level 1 or Level 2 or ...Level 6 I've got different design of certificates in one word file (Level 1 to Level 6) How can I print with mail merge the adequate certificates for each students Name of student 1 got level 1 => print 1st certificate with the name Name of Student 2 got level 2 => print 2nd certificate with the name ... name Student 45 got level 1 => print 1st certificate with the name I've tried to use {SKIPIF {MERGEFIELD Level} <> 1} at the beginning of 1st page then {SKIPIF {MERGEFIELD Level} <> 2} on page 2 etc... but it doesn't work ...there is a kind of conflict between the conditions.. thank you for your support |

You cannot hop around the data to fill the appropriate certificate. You should either filter the data by level and merge each level separately, or depending on the differences between the certificates, you may be able to conditionally include the variations according to level.

Thank you for your suggestion,
the main differences between the certificates are the frame and the number of stars at the bottom (1 star colored out of 6 for Level 1, etc...) shall I just create 6 files for each level then populate the names with conditions? |

Thank you for your suggestion,
Actually, there is a way...I've managed to do something: on the main document I've created a bookmark at the beginning of each certificates, then I've created another document to finish and merge ( with conditions on each level ) I insert the main document as a link within the condition ("Text from file") I specify the "Range" for each condition (Level 1 will have bookmark1 etc..) I then create a filter on level to have them in order... I still have some issues with the formatting of the different texts... Last edited by nabnub; 04-11-2015 at 01:53 PM. Reason: l |
