Default Merging Hyperlink issue

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this.

I just want to preface this by saying I have tried every method I can find on how to merge an active URL (inluding one found on this forum), however no matter which one I try I always come back to the same issue.

The issue is that once I complete the process, the hyperlink is not linking only to the URL, it is also linking to the file path of where the spreadsheet I am grabbing the data from is located. For example, instead of the link being 'www.website.com', the link is coming out as 'C:\users\filepath\filepath\filepath\www.website.com'.

It may also be worth noting that each URL is different and is specific to the intended recipent.

Again, thanks in advance, any help is much appreciated.

I produced an add-in a while back to address this. See if it works for you http://www.gmayor.com/hyperlink_merge_fields.htm

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the response.

I had actually downloaded this yesterday and unfortunately I still came up with the issue. Maybe I am missing something?

When press alt+f9 to so the code behind the text, it all looks fine, exactly how everybody says it should look, but the link still directs to the wrong place.

Either the field you're using is a hyperlink that points to your workbook, with no mergefields, or you've screwed up the implementation. You might also want to check out the 'Mailmerge Hyperlink ‘Click Here’ Insertion' topic in the 'Mailmerge Tips and Tricks' Sticky thread at the top of this forum:

Are you merging to a single new document? That being the case use the option to update the fields after completing the merge so that the individual hyperlinks point to the data from the worksheet.

If you are merging to separate files e.g. using my Merge and Split add-in, then the fields are updated automatically during the process.

Provided you select a field that contains valid links, the link will be the content of the field that you have selected as the link field.
