Default Word Mail Merge with Excel Graph

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can help me with an issue that I have.

I have created an Excel Spreadsheet with a system of creating a Word Document via Mail Merge in VBA.

The spreadsheet allows the user to input numerical data and the formulas calculate the equations to be used within the Mail Merge to ensure that each person is being sent correct personalised data.

The information that is displayed regards the person's BMI Centile.

I have been asked to change the letter to include a sectional bar chart that would plot the person's BMI.

The sections would be as follows.

<2
2 - 90
91 - 97
>98

I would then need a plot on the correct section of what the person's BMI is.

However I am unsure of how to include this in the letter, or how to create the correct chart in Excel.

Please let me know if you need any more info.

Word mailmerges can't import Excel charts so, unless you use an add-in such as the Many-to-One Mail Merge add-in by Doug Robbins at http://bit.ly/1hduSCB, you would have to implement an approach that Word could use based on the numbers themselves. For example, it is possible to generate a bar graph (e.g. for a scale of 1-100) using field coding and text as in the 'Demo' document in the attached zip archive. Note that a fixed-width font is required for both the bars and the scale (currently 7pt Courier New). The zip archive also includes a sample output file. The field code assumes a data field named ‘Graph’, but you can change that to whatever your data source uses. To toggle the field code view on/off, press Alt-F9.
Attached Files
File Type: zip Demo.zip (68.5 KB, 250 views)
