Labels are not printed the way they are shown on the screen! (Word 2013 via Mail Merge)

Hello!

Please please help! I am trying to print labels from Word 2013 via the mail merge function. I have already wasted a lot of (expensive) label paper. On my screen the labels look like they should - but when I print the document, everything gets out of place and shifts down.

We updated to Office 2013 recently and before that everything worked fine.

My suspicion is that it has something to do with the top and bottom margin of the page. They are all on 0 cm, but you can clearly see on the prints that there is a margin preset.
I also have excluded a problem with our printer because we have a second one and it does not work there either.

Please help me :-(

There are four main causes of misaligned labels (though in your case you can probably discount the last). My guess would be '2' or '3'.

1. You have added a header/footer to the normal template (rename the normal template)
2. The page size set in the printer properties doesn't match the page size of the label sheet.
3. You have a scaling option set in the zoom section of the print dialog
4. Your printer has poor paper handling. Some printers will slip when faced with label stock and thus are incapable of feeding the label correctly. Cleaning the rollers in the print path may help.

Check by printing on cheap plain paper and holding it over the label blank. It is easier to check if you temporarily add borders to the table cells.

Hey gmayor!

Thank you so much for your help. It finally worked.
For future reference - I changed the following settings:

• Page Layout > Align > everything on 0 cm
• Margins > Custom Margins > Tab Margins: everything on 0 cm/ Tab Layout: everything on 0cm
• Also, I changed the scaling to paper size A4 - instead of "one page per sheet".

When trying to print, Word sends a message that the margins are very narrow and asks if I really want to print - clicked yes a few times (for every page), then it worked.

I don't know what the solution really was in the end, but it worked and I will do the same things next time.
