Mail Merge - QR Codes Images Shrinking
Greetings - I am not sure how to explain this without screenshots so I have attached a PDF with screenshot example.
I am using mail merge to insert over 800 QR code images onto a Word QR label template. My QR code images are being inserted as tiny images and I couldn't figure out why because the size of the original image was much bigger (175 pixels by 175 pixels). Because there are so many images and they are all unique, I cannot go through and manually update the images one by one. And we will be repeating this process over and over so I must figure out a way to non-manually transfer these QR codes on the label template! After some troubleshooting (even outside mail merge this happens), I concluded that the location from which one copies the image is somehow adjusting the size. See screenshots - if I copy it from the Documents Library (without opening the image, simply clicking on the file name and copying it), pasting it into Word results in a tiny image (not the original size). If I open the image in Paint or another program and copy it from the actual image and THEN paste it into Word, then it pastes it as the original size. I can't seem to figure out how to make Word paste the image in the original size no matter where it is copied from (because I can't force Mail Merge to copy the image in a certain way). If I can figure this out, perhaps I can get my Mail Merge to work! Any help would be appreciated! And if this matters at all, this is what I am using in Mail Merge to pull in the image: {INCLUDEPICTURE {IF TRUE {MERGEFIELD Picture}} \d} Thanks! - L |

The difference in behaviour is probably because the screen image you're copying from has far more pixels than the 175*175 of the native image. Even so, the size is liable to change depending on how the image is inserted. I have a 256*256 png file that, when copied from Windows Explorer and pasted into Word is sized to 2.133in*2.133in (120dpi). When dragged from Windows Explorer in to Word or inserted via Insert|Picture or an INCLUDEPICTURE field, it's sized to 2.667in*2.667in (96dpi). The latter is my system's nominal screen resolution. A 175*175 picture I'd therefore expect to be sized to 1.82in*1.82in.
For the purposes of your mailmerge, you may need to experiment to get a picture with the correct size.
