Merge Changed Master Document Paragraph Designations
We merged a list of names and lot numbers to go at the end of a a master MSWord 2010 document and when the merged documents were created, certain paragraphs designated (a), (b), etc. were incrementally increased in each new document. In the first new document, (a) was changed to (o), (b) was changed to (p), etc. As each new merged document was created, the paragraphs were changed so that he last paragraph is (wwwwwwww).

What you appear to have is a document with automatic paragraph 'list-numbering', using incrementing characters (i.e. a, b, c, d, ...). Word's mailmerge often doesn't work well with those, as the sequence tends to simply continue rather than re-starting for each letter. The simplest solution is to not use the automatic paragraph 'list-numbering' and, instead, number the paragraphs manually.
