Default Data Link Properties Inquiry

We use 3 computers in our office using a C: drive and we are trying to share microsoft word documents with database information. We would like to be able to edit, save and update databases and share the information on multiple computers. Is this possible? When I try to open the file I see on the c drive, it tells me:

--------------
Opening this document will run the following SQL command:

SELECT *FROM 'Office Address List'

Data from you database will be placed in the document, do you want to continue?
--------------

I click yes and get the following error message:

--------------
Could not find file 'C:\Users\Owner\Documents\My Data Sources\Tenant Database.mdb'.
--------------

I click ok, and then a window with 'Data Link Properties' comes up.

In the connection tab, option number #1 includes the name of the database as an mbd file and it's location in the 'Data Source' field.
Option #2 tell me to enter information to log on to the server. Admin automatically comes up with a blank password, which is also correct. I click test connection and come up with the following error message:

--------------
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Could not find file 'C:\Users\Owner\Documents\My Data Sources\Tenant Database.mdb'.
--------------

I click ok to exit the error message and click ok to the connection and it gives me the same error message. How do I find the file? Please help!!!

The SQL prompt you're describing is what one sees when opening a Word mailmerge main document. The error messages suggest the file named 'Tenant Database' has been moved, deleted or renamed. You could try locating the file via Windows Explorer. If found, you could either:
1. Move it back to 'C:\Users\Owner\Documents\My Data Sources\' (not a good idea if it's been moved for a valid reason); or
2. Modify the connection path in the Word document by pointing it to the file in its new location.
