Is it possible to use an Access Database to merge specified PDF documents into word?
Hello, I am using Office 2013 and Adobe Acrobat 9 standard. I am trying to use our access product database to create data sheets for the parts we manufacture. Among other things, we would like these data sheets to contain a full page Inventor outline drawing of the parts. Inventor allows us to save the drawings in many formats including .PDF and .DWG as well as many image files. However, the image files that Inventor saves are low quality and not of use to us. If we compile a fold of outline drawing pdfs is it possible to use access and mail merge to put them in as the last page of our data sheets?

Inserting PDFs into Word documents, as a mailmerge would imply, results in low-resolution images of the PDFs being inserted. They may print out a high-res on a postscript printer (not sure), but they don't do that even if 'printing' the Word document to PDF via a PDF driver. You would do better to create high-res TIFF or EMF/WMF images of the drawings and let the mailmerge use those.

The problem is Inventor doesn't export high quality TIFFs, JPGs, PNGs, or BMPs. The resolution is poor on all of them and there isn't a way to change that as far as I know because to generate these files, it simply takes a screenshot of the drawing. However, when inventor creates a PDF, you can choose the PDF quality and the product is can be very high resolution. If you have any other suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks.

In that case, you could export from the PDF to TIFF or BMP (e.g. via the Acrobat snapshot tool after zooming the page size as much as you need). Don't use JPG or PNG, as their compression degrades the image quality.
