Enable Mail Merge Data Source always in same folder
Dear all,
I have a word document with mail merge enabled and the data source is a Excel (xls) file. As the file always pass around among the colleague. It's quite troublesome everytime they need to link again the data source. May i know the way to enable MS Word to look for the data source file within the same folder as the word file. Thank you |

Perhaps you should re-evaluate why you keep moving the datasource. If you store in in a folder accessible to all users, it then doesn't matter whether you copy or move the mailmerge main document to another folder from which the datasource can be accessed.
The only reliable way around this would be to save the mailmerge main document as an ordinary document, then use a macro to drive the mailmerge process. That, in turn, requires embedding the mailmerge SQL query into the macro code. And, of course, you then have the usual macro security issues to address.
