Default Next Record works half-way

I'm using presentation paper to create 2 postcard mailers per page with a cut line in the middle. The Next Record field will pull the next record on one page but starts with the same 2nd record on the next page so my results look like this:

  • Lorem Ipsum...CLIENT 1
  • Lorem Ipsum...CLIENT 2
  • New page
  • Lorem Ipsum...CLIENT 2
  • Lorem Ipsum...CLIENT 3
  • New page
  • Lorem Ipsum...CLIENT 3
  • Lorem Ipsum...CLIENT 4

Why doesn't it go to record 3 on the next page? I've tried putting Next Record in twice or in various places and changing the type from Letters to Directory. I even tried to insert a Skipif 1=1 to make it jump but I don't think I formatted that correctly. I've spent HOURS on this. Nothing works.

What kind of mailmerge are you doing and where, in relation to your mergefields, is the «NextRecord» field?

I'm doing a letter. I have also tried a directory. I've placed the "Next record" in every conceivable location, before the 1st record, after the 1st record, after the 2nd, both, etc.

It appears that I need a logical expression to test an index number for the record. Otherwise the Next Record placed on the same page acts just like any other field and a new page will always go right back to the very next indexed record.

Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab.
