I want to mail some real estate property owners, and some of the owners own multiple properties/lots. I don't want to send out a lot of duplicate letters. I have read through the tutorial docs that macropod did, but after 2 hours of trying to figure this out, I am asking for help. I usually don't have any trouble solving technical issues like this but I am begging for help!!!
I have attached my word file and the data file. My "key" field is the "mail owner name". If the owner has only 1 property, I want the sentences to read a "vacant lot", and if they own more I want it to read "vacant lots". The salutation will be the first and last name fields, which is different from the key field. The lot addresses will then be displayed in the letter, starting with the Standardized House Number then Street. I have set this up as a catalog, but is this correct even though I am doing a form letter? Please help!! Joe Not sure if this is important or not, but I am using Word for Mac 2011. |

Your 'form letter' isn't set up anything like what the tutorial describes. For some worked examples, see the attachments to the posts at:

I have altered the merge document based on the examples, but I am really having an incredibly frustrating time still. Why is my text body not showing up?

Try the attached. Your field coding had some problems, including that you'd left in some unused fields from one of the links, and your use of the fields for the Key creation & testing were inconsistent - I've changed the two occurrences of:
{QUOTE{ MERGEFIELD Owner_First_Name }{ MERGEFIELD Owner_Last_Name}} (with their inconsistent switch usage) to: {MERGEFIELD Mail_Owner_Name} You also need to add a new last row with a 0 in the 'Mail Owner Name' column in your workbook, so that the last record will be output. As for why your body text isn't showing up, that suggests you're merely previewing the merge instead of executing it - via the Finish & Merge button.
