Mail Merge If statement

I'm trying to do a mail merge and I want to use an If statement.

We have a signature page that sometimes needs to be signed by more than one party.

Is there a way to create an If statement that has the variable of "if more than person, create another signature line for the extra person"

The simple answer is yes, but you'd need to have something in the datasource the field can evaluate. For example:
{IF«Sig_Count»= 2 "__________________¶
__________________¶
"
"__________________¶
"}
where 'Sig_Count' is a field in the data source indicating the # signatures required.

Note: The field brace pairs (i.e. '{ }') for the above example are all created in the document itself, via Ctrl-F9 (Cmd-F9 on a Mac); you can't simply type them or copy & paste them from this message. Nor is it practicable to add them via any of the standard Word dialogues. Likewise, you can't type or copy & paste the chevrons (i.e. '« »') - they're part of the actual mergefields, which you can insert from the mailmerge toolbar. The spaces represented in the field construction are all required. Instead of the ¶ characters, you should use real line/paragraph breaks.
