Other/Custom labels print just 1 per page
I need to print Avery #5395 labels in vertical orientation, i.e. 2.33" wide x 3.38" high, in 11"x8.5" landscape mode. The 4-across and 2-down blank label outlines display on the screen, with <<new record>> atop all but the 1st one. 8 labels per 11"x8.5" landscape page.
27 records are being merged in from an Excel spreadsheet. This is an XP Office 2007 environment. After entering and formatting all fields in the first one, then click Preview Results, the 1st one looks perfect. Then, to fill all the others, I click on Finish & Merge, Edit Individual documents..., and Merge Records ALL. It fails to fill the last 7 labels on each page on the screen, and the same when printed. What appears is label #1 at top-left of page 1, #9 in the same position of page 2, only #17 on page 3, etc. Labels #2-8 on each page are just blanks. Possible cause: Using Access 2007, when exporting records to Excel spreadsheet, the export format dosn't offer an Excel 2007 format, only these: Excel 3, Excel 4, Excel 5-7, Excel 97-2000. I specified 97-2000. I also tried exporting it as a Microsoft Word Merge file, which produced a text file similar to a .CSV file, but the tokens were tab-delimited. Using either file as the merge file for the Word Mail Merge attempt produced the same results. BTW - I was not pursuing the Mail Merge Wizard in the above steps. But when I did use the Wiz, and ended with clicking the: Replicate Labels Update All Labels Complete the Merge Merge - Edit individual labels... Merge to New Document - Merge Records - ALL ... then I do get all 3+ pages of 4x2 labels Why cannot I get to the filling of all pages without using the Wiz's steps above; am I using the wrong (non-Wiz) procedure to "Finish and Merge?" That's not the correct way to update the labels. After confirming the first one is correct, you should click on 'Update Labels', not 'Finish & Merge'. This propagates whatever's on the first label to all the others - having «Next Record» fields in the remaining labels on their own, with no mergefields, tells Word to skip those records ...
