Default Mail Merge with Booklets is Merging all documents into One stapled Booklet

Hi Guys

I am trying to personalise an 8 page A4 sales letter by adding the field (Dear XXX). The sales letter is created in word 2010 and is A4 with custom 0.7 margins all round.

The sales letter is printed duplex onto 2 sheets of A3 which are then folded to create a stapled 8 page A4 booklet. My printer is a Xerox 7665 with a pro finisher that does this automatically in the print driver setup when I select print.

Now the thing is if I select to print the sales letter with no personalisation (mail merge) the printer merrily creates each sales letter as a seperate 8 page A4 stapled booklet (as it should). However if I create the sales letter as a mail merge by adding the field

<forname>

so Dear <forname>

So that I have on each sales letter Dear <forname>

and then select to print the merged letters the printer collates each sales letter and staples them together as one thick booklet dohhh!

Any ideas please as I am at a loss and spent 8 hours yeserday trying different drivers etc.

Mark..

Hi Mark,

If you make two copies of the booklet in the same document, without using the mailmerge, does printing the file result in two stapled booklets, or only one? I suspect the latter. In that case, you'll need to print each mailmerge booklet as a separate print job. You could do this by previewing each merge record and printing the previewed document, or by executing the mailmerge and printing each 'booklet' in turn. A macro could be used to automate the latter.
