Default Option for running SQL repeating before I can open report

I have a template report in MS Word that I am using a mail merge in it runs from a query out of MS Access. I have added some fields in the query, and everytime I add them to the template the box that says:

"Opening from this document will run the following SQL command:
SELECT * FROM 'qryAppraisal'
Data from your database will be placed in the document. Do you want to Continue?"

Then, when I open a new report from the template, this box pops up 10-15 times before it lets me open the report.

What am I doing wrong here? Is it that you can't add fields to a template (via editing: i.e. right clicking the template and selecting open) after it has been created?

Hi Tom,

Mailmerge main documents should be stored as documents, not as templates. I'd have thought you'd only get two prompts, though - one for the template and one for the document.

Ok, I saved it as a document but I'm still getting the multiple prompts. I think it might have something to do with the fields I had inserted yesterday. Like I said above, each time I inserted a field I got that prompt....not just when I opened the report...but each time right after I added a field it would prompt me.

Hi Tom,

It sounds like your document's SQL metacode might have corrupted. Try opening the document and answering no to the prompts, then save & close the document. Re-open the document and there should be no prompts, as the SQL statement will have been deleted. You can then re-connect to the data source and re-save the document. From now on, you should only get one prompt.
