Default How To Include Images and Not Show As Attachments (Paperclip) to Recipients

Hi there,

I've been wasting so many days trying to figure out how to send mass emails to a client base of my using Word 2007 Mail Merge. I include a few images within the email by inserting directly from my computer, so there are no links associated.

When I send the email to people, although I have not attached anything, the email shows up with an attachment and paperclip icon. Sometimes, my emails are blocked so users won't even get it. I also don't want my emails to look suspicious.

I have tried to insert my images by using "link to file" and then use the "Prepare>Edit Links to File>Save Picture in Document>Break Link (as I read some other pages) but that just seems to be the solution for linked images.

Is there anyway I can somehow embed my images so they don't show up as attachments? Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Jaxr,

I believe that requires sending the emails in HTML format which:
(a) will only work if you are using the Outlook as your e-mail client; and
(b) some email servers will convert to plain text anyway, with the result that embedded images either get deleted or converted to attachments.

Hi Macropod,

Thanks a lot for your quick reply! I'm using Word 2007 from my Outlook 2007 program. Basically, I use the mail merge option in Outlook and set it to HTML as am email document. It then opens the Word doc and I use that as my creative grounds to create my email.

Since it's in HTML, are you saying that there is no solution to my issue? There will always be an attachment icon showing when I have images in my email?

It seems like there could be a solution but I realize sometimes the easiest things could be most difficult. I appreciate your help.

Jaxr

Hi Jaxr,

As I've never needed to use mailmerge to send in-line images, I can't say whether there is a solution, or what it might be. All I can be sure of is the minimum requirements (HTML) and the limitations that can be imposed at the receiver's end. Someone may be able to help you with a solution, though, at: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...page=1&tab=all

Thanks macropod. I jus want a program that will allow me to mass email my clients, doesn't matter what it is but I chose Outlook because it has the mail merge function and has script to personalize the messages. The only problem is the attachment. I also tried Gmail but it won't let me send from an alternate account for their mail merge function. However, sending individual emails from an alternate account is allowed.

If you of a program that can solve my problem, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your input and take it easy!

Hi Macropod,

Many, many thanks! I'll have to go into more detail and possibly obtain Outlook and Word 2003 (as I have 2007) but will try it and see how it goes. Seems like the article is right up my alley, for sure. Will post results after my trial run! Hope it works!

It's good to know that there are people like you who are there to help, out of millions of internet users with problems such as mine. Just that fact that I can connect with you relieves my frustration as a simple computer user, myself.

Thanks again Macropod!

Jaxr

Just a quick note, after more tinkering, I finally decided to quit my quest with Outlook. Instead, I found Group Mail which offers a free version. I tried it out and to my surprise, all my problems were solved (could it be because it uses rich text HTML?). Anyway, it's a great, simple program so if there is anyone out there who ever has the same issue as mine, try out Group Mail.
