Default Word crashes when selcting outlook contacts list

I am running Windows 7 (64-bit), and Office Pro (Academic) 2010 32-bit. I am experiencing the same crashes as reported a while back in this Forum (https://www.msofficeforums.com/outlo...l-merge.html): From Word 2010 , select a mail recipient, Select from Outlook Contacts... . and then Word crashes. Sometimes I can select the only available Contacts list before the creash occurs. I have tried repairing office and the listed solution to that user's problem (http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0002.htm), but I still experience the crashes. I have also tried to repair the Outlook .pst file to no avail. It now crashes practically every time. I was wondering if there were any other suggestions that I might try to resolve thsi issue. (I can successfully select from an Excel file to mail merge).

I am not quite sure what I did, but my issue is resolved. I was playing around creating and copying Outlook profiles and I did something that created a new list of contacts in my Contacts folder. When I attempt the mail merge from Outlook Contacts, I essentially now get a list of contacts to choose from. I choose the appropriate list, and everything works. I wish I could say exactly how I solved this problem, but I cannot.

I believe the "solution" to my problem deals more with whether Outlook is open or not when the Word select recipient from Outlook Contacts is started. If Outlook is open, Word crashes. If Outlook is not open, Word does not crash. It does not matter what Outlook profile is active.

The definitive solution to my problem here was to install Office 2010 64-bit. I completely removed (uninstlled) Offfice 2010 32-bit(default), and did a clean install of Office 2010 64-bit. Now I can Mail Merge with selecting Outlook Contact. Outlook can be either open or closed.
