Am i really the first person to bring this up?

Why can't you pick Office/Microsonft 365 from the office versions?

I am not using 2019 version as it says in my profile ...

Forums limitation!

Office 365 is a moving feast. When originally introduced, it was equivalent to Office 2013. It then morphed into the equivalent of Office 2016 and is now equivalent to Office 2019.

Accordingly, questions posted about Office 365 seven years ago may well not be relevant to Office 365 today.

It is for that reason users need to specify the nearest equivalent single-install version.

I would argue that its a completely separate product, so it should have its own category. If you have used 2019 version, its quite different and a different product than 365. Plus they wont have any more desktop versions allegedly, so the philosophy of versioning doesn't scale past 2019 (which is 3 years ago now).

or hey, just make it a text field or at the very least optional. Because right now, 2019 is WRONG. so its bad data you are collecting.

Office (and Word 2021) is available now.

When Office 365 was launched, it was the same as Office 2013. Features were added and eventually Office 2016 was launched as a catch up. Then Office 2019, and now 2021 have been launched. At one point, these are virtually identical to Microsoft (Office) 365 (not completely, some features are reserved for 365, but not many).

I agree that having the version 365 in forum profiles makes sense.

It will make historical questions a bit less useful, though. Which 365? will matter as far as the suggestions made and answers given.
