Lightbulb Excel into word Equation editor with live link

Dear All,

I am a final year chemical engineering student in the process of writing my dissertation. I have a series of calculations in excel (for material and energy balance) and I was wondering if I could write up the equations in MS word in equation editor/math type and import the numbers directly from my excel to word retaining the link, so if I change the calculations they can change too.
I also like to change a series of variables and have the full calculations showing for each variable change in the same style as explained above.
Is this possible? Or is something close possible?
I know this would have been easy with Matlab but my university’s ChemE department in their ultimate wisdom have decided we do not need to learn Matlab and I simply do not have the time to learn something from scratch.
I would like to thank all of in advance for helping an exhausted student.
