Default Displaying cursor position within cell

Is there a way to display the position of the cursor when inside a cell?

This would be similar to Word where the position of the cursor is shown at the bottom of the window when you move around a document.

I revieve *.dat files that I load into Excel that are not comma delimited. All data is placed in column A and can be 180 characters long. Makes it difficult to keep track of where you are when going through the data.

Thank you
