Default Can't open spreadsheets

I just installed my Office 2007 onto my new Windows 7 computer. I cannot open Excel spread sheets from desktop icons nor from their file locations. I can only open them by opening a blank spreadsheet and go to the RECENT DOCUMENTS via the Office button.

Can anyne please help me?

Hi
Sounds like you have two options:
1. Reinstall Office 2007.
2. Run a repair of Office 2007.
You could also try running Office Update incase anything has been updated.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Hi
Try these two options:
Open Excel without opening a workbook.
Then open an existing workbook.
Then do a SaveAs then change the file type to the current version of Excel that you are using.
Close the file.
Close Excel and then navigate to where you have just saved your workbook and see if you can open it from the workbook icon.

OR

Open Excel with a blank workbook.
Then open an exisitng workbook and copy in one sheet to the blank workbook.
The do a save as using the current version of Excel as the file type.
Close the workbook.
Then try and open in from the new workbook icon.

Let me know how you get on.
Good luck.

Neither of these worked. I tried to open :
1. clicking on icon
2. R clicking and clicking OPEN
3. R clicking & clicking on OPEN WITH, THEN CLICKING ON THE EXCEL ICON THAT APPEARED.

Nothing happened.

I sure appreciate your attempts to solve my problem.

If they are not confidential can you send me a couple of workbooks to Otpm@blueyonder.co.uk and I will investigate further
