Additional Markers in 2010(?)

Hello all!

I'm wondering if there is a known add-in for Excel 2010 that might add some extra markers to the charts? (Probably should have gone with Origin 8 for this purpose) I've got a master graph of 20 - 30 experiments and something like an inverted triangle symbol would really help me out.

I have made an inverted triangle in CorelDraw and imported as a picture but two things make it irritating: one can't adjust the colours or its size in excel.



Any thoughts? (looking for a few more basic symbols since junk like "X" and "_" are very difficult to look at.

Have a look at the font Wingdings3 which will give you an inverted triangle(lower case q and s.
Looking at all the Wingding Fonts may provide you with more of what you need.
Failing that let me know what shopes you are after and I will do some more investigation for you.

What's the best way to go about assigning a font symbol to a chart marker? The only major option I really see is to look for an image somewhere in the Windows folders...

I've read through the article, but it explains the basic fundamentals.
What I did do then, was make "Data Labels" with the suggested Wingding3 font and http://www.appspro.com/Utilities/ChartLabeler.htm to speed up the process. When centered, they look like a Data Marker only without the option to outline it in a different colour (not an issue with me). Is this what you were suggesting? (B/c it worked pretty well!)

One more question though. Since it's a bit of a "cheat", is there a reasonable way to show this data label in the legend? (which at this point is just a straight line since there are no data markers)

The only was you can show the Data Label in the Legend is, again, using a transparent Text Box positioned where you need it.
