Default Selecting blank cells in criteria

I am doing an advanced filter to select employees that are still working with the company. In the data range there is a column labeled Term. If the employee is terminated the cell by their name in the Term column has the date of their termination. If the person is still with the company the cell is blank. To select current employees, the criteria I tried to use is as follows:

Term
=""

This definitely does not work, the filter selects nothing. Would someone tell me how to rewrite this to select employees that are still with the company?

Hi
There is no need to use an advanced filter.
Turn on the standard filter so you have arrows against each column header.
Then click on the arrow by the "Term" header and untick all sections except the one marked blank.
You will then be presented with just the employees who have no termination date against their name.
Good luck.

Tony I am having this data filtered to another location. Does that change your suggestion?

Hi
I have done some testing and it seems that you cannot do an advanced filter on Null cells. However if you put say a "." in each blank cell then you can use that as your criteria for filtering to another location.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, for taking the time to help me with this. It works! Where would you ever find something like this other than this forum, it is sure not intuitive.
