Default Advanced Filter - Comparing Two Columns

I would like to do an advanced filter and use a criteria that compares two columns and sees if they are the same. Lets say I want to have the criteria only select rows where column A and column B are <>. Column A and B may have numbers or text. Would someone please show me the syntax for this criteria.

you can simply use conditional formatting to do this. Select the two columns, Open conditional formatting , highlight cells for double data, no matter if data is numeric or text. This will work even if you continue to add data to those columns, if you add a value that already added, it will be highlighted automatically.

Thanks Catlin. I can't quite follow how to do this. I am trying to compare two columns in a spreadsheet to move rows that meet the criteria to another spreadsheet using the advanced filter. I know I can change the font characteristics/etc using conditional formatting, but how would I use that in an advanced filter criteria?
