Issue with a Shared Excell Doc.
Really could use some help if anyone knows much about this.
We have a document that is shared by at least 4 people. I have locked some of the key cells, that I do not want to be edited. cells below say row 10 are to be updated to show the dates that items are received....from left to right. we have a title row in row 9....and the typical setup is for the sheet to freez just below the title row. Based on the size of the document...or something this freeze keeps locking up and not working. When I share and protect the doc though, it removes the ability for me or any of the others to do anything with Freeze. I would like to know if there is a way so that I can either stop this Freeze from locking up while in Shared and Protect.....or if I can some how set it so that all of us have the ability to Unfreeze and then Freeze.....since that is how it is usually fixed in unshared format. Thanks |

Hi
Are you able to post a copy of your spreadsheet so we can see exactly what is going on? Tony (OTPM) |

it is basically the same sheet that you helped out with the other day. Only I had added afew rows above the row that has the actual column headings.....Description, date etc etc.
The Columns inserted above this column just include reference cells that identify if a cell is color coded....and who would have done that item....I aslo added a box to count items....based off the formula that you provided last week. All of this stuff down to my title row.... should always be visible.....and I have no trouble Freezing the row below my title row as long as it is not shared and protected......and even once it is done, it will often work for a while as it is supposed to. Typically the problem is that the entire sheet will freeze on one of us.....so that you can not even scroll to the end of the sheet. the only way to do this is to unprotect the sheet...unfreeze...and then freeze the row under the title row.....then re protect....the real pain is that you must also make sure that all users are out of the sheet before you unprotect the sheet...plus typing the passwords and all that. It would be nice to be able to Freeze and unfreeze in protected shared mode. We had done this because we have people that have access to this information, and will look at it to see were items are at in the process.....and some have been sorting info....this has resulted in cells being changed and all kinds of trouble with data integrity |

Hi
Once you protect a worksheet, in theory, you will be unable to change the freeze options. There may be a way of using a macro to unfreeze and then refreeze but it may affect other users that are in the worksheet at the same time. Tony(OTPM) |
