Print Titles Not Formatting
I have set excel 2007 to print several columns and rows on every page. The columns have a bottom line border that I would like to repeat and the rows have a right line border that I would like to repeat. However, these borders do not carry over to the following pages.
I have tried the following, but the error still persists: - working in 2003; and - reformatting the border to ensure it is on the column/row being repeated (rather than the adjacent). Any idea how to fix this? |

Hi Reddink20
Excel has no concept of "pages". So on the assumption that you will never widen the columns you can highlight the last right hand column and then add a border to the right of the cells. This will repeat on all pages. Again row cells contain data that does not wrap you can manually apply a border to cells at the bottom of each page. Perhaps you may be better considering applying borders to ALL cells (top, bottom, left and right) and then changing the colour of the borders of all cells to mid grey. This would then improve the asthetic appearance of each page without the borders being so obtrusive. Hope this helps. Tony |

Thanks for your quick reply.
I hear what you are saying about reformatting the whole thing, but unfortunately that is not an option with this project. I am sure there is a way to make the borders work, as on the "Field" cell the right border does print, versus the "Lab" cells where they do not. I can't seem to figure out what the difference between the formatting of these cells are, and in my macro I think they are the same (although I'm not the one whole wrote that, and claim relative ignorance). I'm still stumped... |

Are you able to post a sample spreadsheet to see if I can help you further? Tony |

Hey Tony,
I attached a sample spreadsheet to my first thread - do you see it? If not I can try to get it to you another way... |

Sorry I missed the fact that you had already included a sample in your first post. In my first spreadsheet (Output TK Version 1) I have added a border to the rightmost column and also at the end of each page. This solution assumes that no extra columns are added and the width of the columns do not change. Also no extra rows are inserted and the contents do not wrap around. In my second spreadsheet (Output TK Version 2) I have changed each cell border to light grey so that you have a definitive border around each cell. It does not matter if extra columns are inserted before the last column or extra rows are added before the last row. If they are then you need to add the borders to those extra columns/rows. Hope this helps. Tony |

Hi Tony,
In the samples you sent me the title column and row borders are still not carrying over to page 3 and 4. Specifically it's the column after "field" and "lab" and under the sample "N" and "FD". It's funny though, because the "field" column appears to be handeling it just fine. |

Nope, still not working. I attached a pdf of what I'm seeing. Specifically go the fourth page, the right column by "lab" is missing the line and the line under "Chemical Name" is not extending across all columns. Are you seeing the same output?

This should do the trick. I saw what you saw in your pdf. I have re-assigned borders to the relevant cells and they now display correctly. Tony |

Yes, that's it. How did you do it? I have used the paintbrush format to copy the "field" cell format and apply it to the "lab" format, but I'm looking for a method to adjust this when I don't have a "field" cell. Also the line is still missing on page 3 and 4 on the bottom the of "Chemical Name" row. I can do the paintbrush formatting to get this to change as well, however, is there a better way?

Hi Redink20
All I did was re-assign borders to the relevant cells and it worked. Tony |

Wow, okay. So really just went up to the ribbon and selected a right border on the cell? That doesn't seem to work with me. What were you doing before that it wasn't working?
