LookUp
On my project, I used VLOOKUP to count the regular employees on sheet 1,
so that on the sheet 2, it display how many regular employees does company have.. Now, I want to lock the cell on the sheet 2, so that it didn't update everytime I add new regular employees. Example, on day 1 there's 200 employee, and the result on sheet 2 is 200 also. . on day 3 the employees become 215, and I want that the result on sheet 2 is fixed. Anyone help me. . please. . . |

Hi Aztiguen,
You could limit the lookup range to the data already input. Alternatively, you can copy the results of your lookup formula and convert it to its results via Paste Special > Values.

By Specifying the lookup range (eg from row 1 to 200) instead of applying the lookup to a whole column.

I'm interested to know how VLOOKUP() is being used to generate a count of regular employees!?

Colin, I guess vlookup is used just to generate a value for every entry, that can be counted vith another formula... As you noticed, vlookup does not count, just returns a existing value from the selected range...
Aztiguen, you can set formulas to count by a time range, and the count will stop if the date when entries are added is out of your selected time range. This way you can count employees for every month and the solution is simple. If you can upload a sample worksheet it will be easier. |
