unable to open Excel files on the Desktop?

Hi,

I have tried copying them, renaming them but I cannot opening .xls files from the desktop. I can open Excel and browse to them fine. I've also searched for a resolution online and found that the 'Ignore Other Applications' in tools-options-general should be unchecked which it is.

Hope someone can help

Hi
This sounds like it may be a file association issue. Check that the default application to open the file is set to MS Excel.

Thanks for responding : I've checked the file assocaition, funny thing is, when I double click the files nothing happens at all and I don't get any 'open with' pop ups etc???
