Default Protecting one sheet is driving me mad.

This is madness. I want 2 cells on only one tab to be protected. Can’t be written to without permission. I clicked on info Protect Workbook. I can not un-protect it now. Every time I open it gives me the message the author wants you to open this as read only.

Can someone PLEASE restore this for me so I do not get this message ANNOYING MESSAGE ANY MORE. I simply want to protect one sheet. Monthly estimates allowing ONLY cells B3 and C3 to be edited. All other cells and sheets are as normal.

Thanks. This is driving me mad now. Stopping this message every time it is opened.

That's not how you apply worksheet protection:
1. Select the whole sheet and choose Format>Format Cells>Locked
2. Select the editable cells and choose Format>Format Cells>Unlocked
3. Choose Format>Protect sheet and apply your preferred options

Getting rid of the read-only prompt is as simple as choosing 'No' at the opening prompt, then using Save As, then Tools>General Options and uncheck the 'Read-only recommended' option.

See attached.

Okay. That workes. Strange though you have to save as and use tools. There should be an undo on the sheet.

You have to use the Tools in this case because you messed with Workbook protection, not WorkSheet protection.
