Default Help with Chart

Hi friends!

Don't remember if I asked this a while ago. If so plz forgive:
I know more about the climate on Mars than about Excel, so plz go soft and easy on me...

I want to create a spreadsheet for my history class that will show data about the birth date and death date of historical figures and if they could have seen each other.

So there are three columns: Name, BDate DDate (data not correct)

Looks like this:

Abe Lincoln 1877 1945

Donald Trump 1935 2029

Albert Einstein 1897 1945

etc. etc.

This I can do My self

Now I want to create a bar graph that will have one bar for each individual the starting point being on the year he was born and extending to the year he died, where I can adjust the grid size zooming in and out to examine exact overlap time.

Tha attached screen is what I DO NOT WANT.

I want it to look like this:

Abe lincoln:<-----space place holder for this post--------> 1877 -------------in chart this would be a bar-----------------------1945

Donald Trump:<-----space place holder for this post ---------------------> 1935------------in chart this would be a bar---------2029

Albert EInstein: <--space place holder for this post -> 1897----in chart this would be a bar--1945

As well as making it horizontally oriented.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you and have a good day!

I would show information like this similar to a MS Project Gantt chart with horizontal bars rather than vertical (the flow of time is best shown horizontally)

So I would:
1. Change to a Stacked Bar
2. Change the DDate column to 'Age at Death' and change the value in those cells to calculate eg =1945-1877
3. Change the colour of the Bdate bar to 'No fill' (effectively hiding it)
4. Change the axis starting point to a whole number close to the first date eg 1850.

EDITED: I see you got the same advice on the other site
