I want to be able to put the contents of a specific cell in the cell adjacent to every occurrence of a specific string in a range.


The specific cell whose value is to be added is outside the range selected.


Hopefully the attached will illustrate what I wish to do.

You could paste the following formula in D2, then drag it down and over as far as required.

Thanks for that, but I'm afraid I can't get that to work.


I've attached another example spreadsheet which hopefully better explains what I'm trying to do...

Thanks for your interest, but I found the solution via an online Auto Bot - took some time, but very well worth it!


Apparently it can only be done via a Macro, as Excel only works in one-dimension for certain functions.


(Please don't ask me - the Bot suggested that!)




I have to say that this was my first experience of interaction with AI (at least as far as I was consciously aware) - great in the right hands.
