Plotting historical events using Excel
Hi Friends!
I want to use Excel to show a graph to compare the beginning and end of historical events. Each event has a beginning year and an end year. so column a is the name of the event column b is the beginning year column c is the end year a1:world war b1:1939 c1:1945 a2:American participation in WW2 b2:1941 c2:1945 And then have a graph showing those events, something like the attached graph. I am not able to find which bar graph i should use and how. Sorry for the ignorance.. Susan |

You need all years the event was happening in source table!
An example how i'd do this is attached. Events are defined in table tEvents on Events sheet. The column EventVal is used to determine the position of event in graph, and must be an unique value for every event! On sheet SetUp you can determine the start year for table tEY on sheet EventYears. This table will be the source for your graph. You create a graph based on table tEY on sheet EventYears. Event labels for graph you get from named range nEvents at top of same sheet. |
