Hi All,
I'm trying to create a counter which identifies instances where for example "*P*" in column C and "Office" in D both occur in the same row. This counter would go in I21 in my attached screenshot. For context, I know how to create counters, just not how to ask it to look for combinations from 2 cells within the same row. This would obviously need to apply to the whole sheet. I hope I've managed to explain this clearly and thanks in advance for any help! |

Pictures for this question are no earthly use. Attach a workbook with just this sheet in it, then when you get an answer you're sure it'll work. (If the data is sensitive, it doesn't need to contain any more data than what you've already exposed in the picture.)

Perhaps
Code:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("P",$C$2:$C$1129)))*($D$2:$D$1129="office"))

Some formulae in column I
To double-check choose a group name in cell M8 and compare results with column I, especially the totals; it'll help you sort out discrepencies. |

p45cal and Pecoflyer just wanted to thank you both for your help! The returned sheet is exactly what I had been aiming for p45cal. I'm now breaking down what you did to learn it for myself next time!
Thanks again! |
