Question Excel crashing

My Excel (MS Office Home Enterprise 2007) is suddenly crashing when I try to change the font colour. Have tried several times, the moment I move the mouse to a different colour in the font changing window, it crashes completely.

any suggestion how to fix this?

thanks
CD

As you can see: http://www.bing.com/search?q=excel+c...ox&FORM=IE8SRC

this is a common problem and is caused by a faulty printer driver. HP seems to be especially bad to do this. Find an updated printer driver or change your default printer to some other printer.

Default Does anyone from Microsoft read these posts???

Thanks for your reply - well, I have updated my printer driver (HP Photosmart all in one), and Excel is still crashing. I don't have any other printer.

What is MS doing about it???

they charge for technical assistance $40 - I don't want to pay just to hear that there is nothing they can do.

does anyone have another suggestion?

could MS rep give us some advice here please????

Again, this is a known issue with HP printers. You can post the model number for your photosmart here or you can ask these people http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer.../bd-p/Software

but Microsoft can't fix faulty HP software.

If you want to, you can try changing your default printer to a faux printer like Microsoft Document Writer, which came with Vista. You should then be able to use the products and then when you are ready to print, use the printer drop-down to change to your Photosmart for the current job.

Default Excel still crashing, years later, now ver 2010

Imagine my surprise when I came to this forum and learned that the situation I am facing has been a known issue for many years. Yet, Microsoft has done nothing to fix it.
I've set my default printer to Primo PDF and MS XPS, and I am still unable to change the font color without experiencing an immediate crash and a spinning cursor.
Yes, Kimberly, I understand that MS can't fix problems with HP printer drivers, but they could certainly improve on the way their application handles the issue. No program should ever crash because of a bad printer driver, especially when the user isn't trying to print anything!!
