Default Seleted Cell Highlighting

When I selected a cell in my 2007 version of Excel, the background would highlight with a very light gray color. In the 2019 version of Excel there is only a slight change in the border around the cell to indicate that it is selected and it is very difficult to find that cell in a large spreadsheet. Is there a setting I can use to change the properties of a selected cell?

Interesting. My 2007 version just places a thick border around the cell.

???

That may have been what was happening in my 2007 Excel. I had display problems with my 2007 version of office so I uninstalled it and installed the 2019 version. Neither this version of Excel or Word will put a border around the selected cell/cells. Is there a setting which I can use that will make this happen?

I don't know of any setting ... although there may be one. I've always understood it was an editable design of Excel.

I have 2019 version and Excel cells look like photo on my machine. Ignoring the pale green background (because that is my customised colour) does your cell highlighting look similar? Maybe post a photo?

That's what my cells look like. Now put a border around a couple of cells and then select one of them. You'll see what I'm talking about.

I didn't study the article. It just sounded as if it is what you need. The instructions begin with the text "The following VBA code...." then steps 1,2, 3 and 'Notes'.

There may be something more simple on tinternet but that was the first thing I found.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help. When you get to step 3, it just says "save". When you try to save it in a xlxs file, you get an error saying It can only be saved in a macro enabled file (xlsm) I'd like to be able to open a new workbook in that format. The only way I know how to do that is, open a new book then immediately save it as a xlsm file.

I have this code embedded in a workbook. How do I view it when I'm in the book?

I'm out of ideas so I hope you find help elsewhere.

Maybe it is not possible unless you into advanced computer stuff?
