I have my worksheet in Excel where I keep track of my dates and hours worked. Column A, down, has the dates starting from 1/1/2022 to 12/31/2022. There is other data in each ROW across associated with the date that I would like to highlight also, for example, today is column A, the coinciding day of the week, then time on duty, time off, where I worked. example:



1/1/2022 Saturday 0600 1200 6:00 Morrisville
1/2/2022 Sunday 0000 0000 0:00 off duty
1/3/2022 Monday 1200 2200 10:00 Camden


i would like to have excel, based on "today()" highlight the row across from column A thru Column H with a color, etc.

Select the entire range (rows and columns) and use =$A1=today() as CF. Format as required
As you did not post a sample sheet, unable to see if dates are real dates or text looking like dates

Just a sample of the sheet as the dates/days extend to 12/31/2022...would like the rows to highlight the date for the current dats and extend the formatting to column atleast column G, and possibly further in the future

I have yes. Only current date highlighted. I’m looking to see if the entire row after the date column and up to the last named column would highlight

I don't think you followed the instructions correctly. You have the select columns AND rows, and of course adapt the formula to your data.

Yup, I did follow correctly. still it only highlighted the cell containing todays date

1. You want to make sure you're applying the conditional formatting to the whole area, not just the date column. So if your data is in A to F and rows 2 through 50, highlight them all before applying the conditional formatting. And make sure when you select the area, work from the top down, not the bottom up. From what I've noticed, it matters.

2. When you write the formula, follow Pecoflyer's example [=$A1=today()] in that the dollar sign is only on the column, not the row. So, no matter which column you're applying the conditional formatting in, it's based on the condition of the date in column A (the dollar sign makes that absolute) but relevant to each row separately (row not absolute bur relative.)
