Excel not starting properly
I am a long time user of Excel 2010 and it has, until just a few days ago, always worked perfectly. However, starting a few days ago, if I double-click a .xlsx or .xlsm file, I get the error message: There was a problem sending the command to the program. However, if I open Excel, I can then drag the file into Excel without issue.
What the heck happened? More importantly, can you suggest that which I can do to fix this problem? Thanks. |

Windows 7.
The only directly relevant update that happened recently was this: Security Update for Microsoft Excel 2010 (KB3017810) 32-Bit Edition Installation date: 2021-09-22 2:41 PM There were also five updates for Microsoft Office on the same date. I would shudder to imagine that an official security update is the root cause of the problem... |

I am not saying its the problem but both Windows 7 and Excel 2010 are at end of life so i am suprised you are getting any updates at all.
Windows 7 support ended on January 14, 2020 Microsoft have released updates that have broken Windows. Ideas
You might just have to open the workbook via Excel if you cant upgrade |
