Excel 2019: How to display the sign of numbers in another field in brackets?

I couldn’t figure out how to display the sign of numbers in another field in brackets as shown in the screenshot below

Into B2 enter formula

=IF($A2="","",IF($A2<0,"(-)","(+)"))

and copy down

You could easily use a custom format for this.

Custom Format

• Right click cell (or Ctrl + 1)
• Format Cells
• Number
• Custom
• Type: "(+)"0;"(-)"0;
