How to adjust horizontal axis
Hello
I made a chart for costs from january to december for 12 months. But on the chart instead of months in horizontal axis it displays numbers from 1 to 12. How can I make them write month names instead of numbers from 1 to 12? |

If you wrote the months as text then they should show as text. See photo of my example.

Is it possible that you did not select the 'months' column when you created the chart and this may force Excel to use numbers instead? Maybe you only selected the 'Cost' column?
Try recreating the chart making sure both Month and Cost columns are selected. |

To remove the $ from the chart try deleting the $ column.
I don't know about the scaling but will check into it when I have time or maybe some else will help on that aspect. |

$ is not a separate column it is how numbers in second column is written - in dollar format

The $- at the bottom is your first scale, representing zero dollar, next is $1,000.00. Try setting your minimum amount to $1,000.00. You can also adjust the vertical scales in the same setting.

Another way to change the vertical scale is to click on the chart to reveal its eight 'handles'. These are small circles, one at each corner and one in the centre of each side. Click and drag on either the top or bottom centre handle to increase/decrease the chart height.
I also notice that your currency data column doesn't look right? I would expect to see $4500 and not $ 4500 (with large space between the $ and 4). That's why I thought the $ was in a column of its own so how did this large space happen? |

Maybe the amount was formatted in Accounting, not Currency.

I tried using Accounting format and the cells on my PC show $4,500 (no spaces) and not $ 4,500. Very odd behaviour! I still can't see how the OP's photo shows the $ so far away from the amount figures without it being in a column of its own.
Ah well it seems the OP may be sorted now. |

I use the Accounting format in the Financial Statements that I prepare. The wider the column width, the farther the currency symbol is to the number.

Yes, you are right. I've never used Accounting format, only Currency. Thank you for explaining.
