SUM formula using text colours
Hi All,
Is it possible to use the text colour of a cell in a range of cells to add the value or not. I.E. if the cell text colour is RED then don't add the value, if the cell text colour is green add the value. What i'm trying to do is have cells filled with expected revenue and when an item is sold to change the colour of the text indicating it is sold and to add it to the totals cell at the end of the row. Any ideas or push in the right direction is always helpful. regards Trevor |

It can be done fairly easily with vba my looking at each cell information in a range and then just adding up, but i a fairly sure there is no straightforward way with a formula.
How were you planning on colouring the cells? Manually or with Conditional formatting? If you are going to have conditional formatting it will need to have a rule (minus sign or sell etc) and if that is the case this is a much more reliable way of counting If manual we need to ask the question of 'what is green'? is it the dark green or olive green or another shade Adding a workbook is always a help |

No worries, i was hoping for a formula solution not VBA, i have seen various ways to use VBA to do it.
Thanks anyway. |
